Camping in Cape Disappointment
Camping is always fun and have heard lot of great stories from many of my friends & colleagues. We have done several hikes in the last few years but never experienced the camping goodness. It’s been years we’ve been thinking about doing camping but finally got to experience that in Cape Disappointment campground in Washington State with a group of 7 families. When we heard the campsite name, it was slightly intriguing đŸ™‚ and was looking forward to the day.
Cape Disappointment State Park is located in Ilwaco, Washington and makes up one of the Lewis and Clark National Parks. The park has lots of trails, beaches, North Head lighthouse, Cape Disappointment lighthouse and there is a Interpretive center of Lewis & Clark.
This was a 3 day, 2 night trip to Cape disappointment campground. As this was our first camping trip, we slightly overdid with our packing and there was no space in the car :-). The 6 person instant tent from Amazon was definitely a good buy and took less than 2 minutes to set up the tent. The first experience of sleeping inside the tent with the entire family was awesome. The sounds of the raindrops, hustle bustle of the wind during night time were distracting for few seconds but everyone fell asleep within few minutes after the 3 hour long drive along with a tasty dinner that night.
Campsite
The campsite was well maintained and is a family friendly site with all basic amenities needed for a family. The site is located very close to the beach and very convenient to do short stroll in the beach during dusk time. Our first campfire was awesome especially the smores enjoyment for the kids.
