Relaxing day at the Beach & Mall

After a long day at the Chichen Itza, we did not book any tour on this day and kept it very open to relax & take a break from all the walk we did yesterday. The entire morning went at the Westin pool and beach side. We took a stroll to the La Isla mall in the afternoon and did the indoor aquarium visit. This aquarium was indeed a really good one loaded with great activities for kids. I would recommend this place to families who are travelling with young kids or if you don’t have time to visit Xel-Ha or XCart.

This aquarium also comes with interaction programs with Sting Rays, Shark encounter and swim with Dolphin rides. As we were doing the Dolphin swim at XCaret, we just got a regular admission. We heard great reviews about the Shark encounter where they put you in a cage and take you deep down to the Shark. Neither Mani nor I knew swimming, so we did not take this activity but instead watched the show of people who did this activity. Sting ray interaction was fun to do and we did this as a family.

The food court close to the bay is filled with different types of cuisines, coffee shops and other beverages. The coffee at the ‘Ah Cacao Chocolate Cafe’ and Mediterranean food was awesome to taste at the food court. The Mexican outlet mall that you can find in many malls is one of the famous shops to buy your souvenir’s.

Later in the evening we wanted to explore other beaches in the area and Mandala beach was one of them. This is definitely a very crowded beach but one of the delight to see in this beach are the close proximity to birds. You will find groups of birds flying just above your head and they are available in such a low zone area.

Dinner at Elephanta restaurant was an awesome experience. They are opened only for dinner and the restaurant is located with several booths facing the ocean. The food tasted great as well and we enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant.
